Collins Coyotes... Join the Pack!

Dear Collins Families,

I am so proud of the growth our Collins Coyotes made this year, with the support of our dedicated and caring staff members and families. Our school cheer captures the essence of what we saw:

Collins Coyote

Achievers and believers

Join the pack!

We believe in ourselves

We believe in each other

We believe in doing our best!

Seeing students work hard and achieve rigorous goals has been inspiring. For example, our kindergarten, first and second-grade students have also demonstrated excellent growth in reading, writing, math and other areas. On the Smarter Balanced State Assessments, our fifth graders exceeded the district averages, and our 3rd and 4th graders significantly outperformed the district and were near or above state averages on the Math and English Language Arts. Our choir and marimba band performed exceptionally well this year. These are just a few examples of students’ successes for which we are proud.

Every member of the Collins staff has worked diligently to bring our mission of “creating connected, capable, contributing citizens who achieve their highest potential every day” to life. We want every student to enjoy school, learn rigorous content and know they are an important member of our community. We thank you for partnering with us to support your children in their learning; it is an honor to serve them and watch them grow each year!

It is always hard to say goodbye to our fifth graders, other students who are moving and staff who are moving on to new adventures. Congratulations to Rosie Elliot, Penny Howard, Dan Lauretano, and Kathleen Nicolai who are retiring. We also bid farewell to Nancy Bounds (para), Becky Clark (nutrition services), Corey Young (YMCA), and teachers Chelsey Lyons, Megan Madlena and Nozipho Sheriff. You will be missed!

You will find a list of school supply lists for next school year on our website. This will allow you to take advantage of the sales offered during late summer. Also, for comfort and safety, it is imperative that every student have an emergency kit in their classroom. You can provide your own, or thanks to our wonderful PTA, you can purchase one for $5.00.

We are going to host a Back-To-School night on September 14th at 6:00 pm. During this event, you will get to know teachers and support staff, tour classrooms, learn about procedures, programs, PTA, family opportunities and plans for our new school scheduled to open in the fall of 2019..

The first day of the 2017-18 school year for grades 1-5 is Tuesday, August 29, 2017. We always look forward to a new year with our Collins Coyotes! May you and your family enjoy a safe, fun and restful summer.
